The Delaware Center for Horticulture wanted
to replace its former Web site with a new site which would be organized
in such a way as to support more content and be easily navigated,
and which would be aesthetically consistent with the style used in
its print publications. The site should focus on "families who
have an opportunity to garden" as the current and major potential
audience and should communicate the various ways in which that audience
may interact with and participate in the Centers services, activities,
and events. Site visitors should be able to communicate with staff
via the Web, creating a feeling of community which complements the
Centers efforts to promote gardening as community building.

- Created a consistent overall aesthetic that highlights and visually
distiguishes each area of the organization
- Developed templates to allow for easy maintenance, development
of new content and site-wide modifications
- Created a standard online form system for the submission of
requests for information
- Trained staff to maintain and expand the site's content

Since the site launch in October the site has had over 3,000 visitors.
It provides regularly updated content with its "In Our Garden"
section and events calendar. According to the organization itself,
it has also helped to bring new clarity to the way in which the
organization as a whole thinks, requiring staff to consider things
like how departments are interconnected and what kind of information
is considered important, via the structure of the site.
