The Rowan University College of Education
serves a diverse population of current and prospective students, alumni,
and teachers throughout the region, who are looking for very specific
information on topics of education. While a large volume of information
was provided on the original site, many individuals were still calling
or e-mailing with questions as a result of not having found the answers
they sought. The redesigned Web site should provide an easier means
of accessing information and a simple and uniform mechanism for the
user to contact the College if questions arise. It should also advertise
and inform visitors about new/popular programs and events.

- Worked with staff and the site’s
audience to identify necessary content and to design a clear information
architecture and navigation system
- Established a "news & events" section
to highlight, advertise and provide direct access to information
about new programs and events
- Created feedback and inquiry forms to
contact the College and various departments
- Designed the visual interface and created
page templates that were applied to the College and department
sites
- Trained staff to maintain and expand
the site's content as well as apply the new templates to all of
the individual department sites

The College of Education Web site now presents
its information in a clearly organized and consistent format, greatly
reducing the number of inquiries. Further, the College can easily
add in response to those questions that are submitted, and can keep
its audience current on news and events.
By providing training to the College's
staff and supplying them with templates, they have been able to
apply the new design to all of its department's Web sites, consistently
branding their entire site.
