Appel Farm is a 50-year old arts and music
center going through a period of rapid growth and change. In light
of the Center's obscure rural location, staff sought a way to make
up-to-date information easily available to patrons, funders, and those
just discovering Appel Farm. The aesthetic of the site should embody
the center's enthusiasm for its growth while respecting its long history
and tradition. The site should openly welcome all visitors to explore
its many facets and provide opportunities to submit inquiry forms,
sign up to volunteer, intern or attend camp, and purchase concert
tickets and merchandise via a secure transaction system.

of new content and site-wide modifications
- Directed the creation of an off-line secure sales transaction
system for the acceptance of credit cards ticket sales via the
Internet
- Created a standard online form system for the submission of

The staff has been very pleased with sharp increases in volunteer
registrations, camp inquiries, and ticket sales (26% of ticket sales
for the Center's Festival, which attracted a record 12,500-audience,
were received online). Staff have used the site as a tool for displaying
images of on-going building construction and art projects, often
referring to the site when encouraging funders, patrons, and prospective
camp families to learn more about the Centeršs activities. As Web
traffic continues to increase, the staff independently updates the
site and develops new areas of content with confidence.
